Edward Lamb

Ed Lamb has reported on pharmacy practice, pharmacist and pharmacy technician education and certification, the pharmaceutical industry, insurance and patient care since 2001.

Experience:

Ed worked at the American Pharmacists Association for five years, editing and writing articles for the APhA website, Pharmacy Today and the Journal of the American Pharmacist Association. He has freelanced since 2006, contributing articles on generic drugs, Medicare, pharmacy laws, pharmacy technology, pharmaceutical development and new drug approvals to periodicals such as Pharmacy Times and several websites.

By Edward Lamb:

Covering pharmacy reminds me each day that pharmacies offer patients more than places to get prescriptions filled and dispensed. Patients visit independent and chain community pharmacies far more often than doctors' offices. They trust their local pharmacists to counsel them on medications, recommend OTC remedies and dietary supplements, and answer almost any health question. In hospitals and nursing homes, pharmacists ensure the sickest patients get medications they need without suffering drug interactions that threaten their lives even further. In all settings, pharmacists compound customized dosages and work with other health care providers to improve patients' health outcomes.

As pharmacists become ever more involved in one-to-one patient care by providing medication therapy management services and entering into collaborative prescribing agreements, I will work to make this site a go-to resource for everyone practicing pharmacy and interested in pharmaceutical care.
